Ok, I’ll be the first to admit- my toxic trait is packing my makeup bag and car with a multitude of lip glosses. And I mean 6+ lip glosses in the makeup bag alone. I know-there’s a problem here. I’m not a lipstick girl- it’s always gloss for me. And boy, I’ve tried.them.all. I have categorized my picks for you below- everyday and date night/special occasions.

everyday

I always ensure I have a back up of these on hand. These are the makeup bag daily use glosses which I have purchased over and over:

Lanolips

I use this one in Rhubarb (shown above) and Clear (I love minty and watermelon in this clear one). This is available in colors as well. This gloss feels like a treatment for the lips. So nourishing.

NYX

I’m certain you’ll find a great shade between the 20 options! My go-to is Angel Food Cake. This has a smooth, buttery and non-sticky texture.

Ilia

This Ilia option is quite different from the other two- it is a lip oil- so it’s very lightweight and hydrating on the lips. And though it’s a lip oil, it’s surprisingly highly pigmented. A really good bang-for-your buck here. I wear Linger (a berry mauve) and Only You ( a neutral nude). I also love the shades Tahiti and Petals.

Laura Mercier

I love LM’s lip glace. It’s not at all tacky or sticky. I have it in the shades Sugarplum and Starlight (both in photo above). I’m not sure that these are shades available year round as I purchased them in a duo over the holidays. There are more than 15 additional shades available.

Dr Bronner’s

And finally, this is not a gloss but a lip balm/chapstick product. I included it because I reach for this regularly. The peppermint oil is light- not at all overpowering, and immediately soothes dry lips. Perfect for wear under a mask. 2 for under $7!

Special occasion/date night

Bobbi Brown

This is a beautiful gloss. It’s not long lasting but it is not sticky and feels good on the lips. I love the shades New Romantic and Slow Jam. Perfect for photos or if you’re not going to be eating.

Charlotte Tilbury

This gorgeous gloss in the famous Pillow Talk shade is great. I apply this liner first.

Nars

This is a wonderful gloss that is hydrating and lasts for hours. My favorites are Unbroken and Chelsea Girls.
